
LORRAÍNE NOLAN is a native of Newbridge, Co. Kildare. She trained under Veronica Dunne at the College of Music, Dublin, where she received her honours degree in performance and music education. Before making her professional debut in Gareth Hudson’s very successful production of the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber she performed with the Irish National Stud Entertainment Troupe. She has worked extensively in theatre, concert and television and in addition has been much sought as vocal coach to emerging singers.
Her theatre work includes The Wizard of Oz at the Olympia Theatre, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Gaiety Theatre, and Jenny in the Threepenny Opera.
Under the direction of Newbridge director Peter Hussey, Lorraine has played Portia in The Merchant of Venice, Gabrielle in God Bless Archie Dean and Adela in The House of Bernada Alba.
Lorraine was backing vocalist for Michael Bolton in the Point Theatre and is no stranger to Eurovision having sung Eurosong in ’96.
Operatic roles include Leonora in La Forza del Destino, Madame Butterfly in Madame Butterfly and Manon Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, all with the Dublin Grand Opera Society.
She is perhaps best known for her part as lead vocalist in Riverdance with which she toured the US and Australia for two years. She has appeared and recorded on on the Radio City Music Hall production of Riverdance – the Show Video.
Since 2004, Lorraine has been working with a compilation of songs which were recorded by the late Eva Cassidy. This work has led to her concert tour of Songbird – the Eva Cassidy Story, which delights audiences wherever it is performed.
